KEIGHLEY COUGAR CUBS
- Keighley Cougar Cubs are an Amateur
Youth Rugby League Club who play in the Yorkshire Juniors Amateur Rugby League.
- They take their name from the
local professional club Keighley Cougars although the cubs are self funded
and have only a limited assosiation with the club. The Cubs are a Club of
approximately 200 boys and girls under the age of 18.
- They have teams for all ages
from 6 to 17.
- They have teams of both girls
and boys, teams are mixed up to the age of 11.
- They operate an overt anti-racist
policy and do not discriminate on any grounds, specifically religion, race,
sex or physical disability.
- Anyone can join and entry is
on application only, not ability.
- The teams play to the Laws of
Rugby League with modifications
for those under the age of 11.
- The club is a member of and administered
by BARLA, The British
Amateur Rugby League Association.
Which age group?
- To play for our team, your date
of birth should fall between 01.09.97 & 31.08.98
- (Players who's D.O.B. falls between
01.09.98 31.08.99 may also be able to play for the team at the discretion
of the committee)
- The team trains and plays their
home games at the playing fields on St Johns Road, Utley, Keighley.
- Training at the moment is 10:00-11:30
every Saturday Morning although this will change to one evening during the
week once our fixtures are sorted out.
- Games are usually played on a
Saturday Morning.

What do I need / need to do?
- To play you need to register
with BARLA this costs £15 per year, to register you need to:-
- complete a BARLA registration
form
- have your form signed by
your parent or guardian
- attach 3 passport photo's,
payment and your birth certificate or passport to prove your D.O.B.
- hand it all in at training
- Subs will cost you £3 per
week during the season.
- To start with for training you
will need a pair of rugby/football boots, a Rugby Shirt / T Shirt and shorts.
Maybe a tracksuit for colder days.
- Once you start playing you will
be provided with a kit for matches.
- When playing you will need to
wear a Scrum Cap and a Gum Shield, both can be bought from any good sports
shop. Although this is general good practice it is a rule of our team and
strictly enforced for the safety of our players.
- (A good coat or something to
keep you warm if / when you are sub.)
